For those people who are doing a marathon who have the intention of getting a medal come race day then please rest if you are injured at present..

You will not lose fitness now if you have followed your plan.

If you don't rest and allow your injury to recover then it will not get better and you will probably fail to achieve your target of finishing the marathon, you may not even make the start line. It's not about the training now it's about being fit enough to run your marathon event.

Do not feel that you have to keep training to ensure you follow your plan, if you have done your training so far then rest will be the best route to follow.

Running on the injury will not help, it will hinder, so cross train and use physios or massages (Adrian Tansley) can tell you all about the benefits of these ????

Please remember your whole focus for the last few months has been to run the marathon, so remember this when you think that you should try to go running with that bad foot, pulled groin or other problem

I speak from experience of doing it wrong
