The committee are delighted to announce that with the support of Barnes Fitness (Ellie and Ian Gosling) our Final Championship 5km race of the season will be an exclusive BFR race.

When: Saturday 16th December - race starts at 9am – arrive by 8:30am to collect numbers

Where: Dinton Pastures  Country Park, Davis Street, Hurst, RG10 0TH

The route is the same as the Dinton Summer Series 5km events so a single lap course around Black and White Swan lakes respectively. The course is fast and pretty much flat and is all on paths – please note that if it has been raining puddles may accumulate on the course!

As we have to pay for use of the land there will be an entry fee of £5 – this will include water after the event and (if you’re really nice to Ellie) a mince pie as well! As this event will be followed the Barnes Fitness annual Santa Dash races there will be a seasonal theme and after paying for use of the land the remainder of the entry fee will go to Barnes Fitness’s chosen charity Building for the Future – a locally based parent led charity that provides activities, support and therapy for children with disabilities and/or additional needs.

Entries to our exclusive race must be made by no later than 12pm on Friday 15th December by email to with payment of £5 made to the club account in advance of the event – please note that we will NOT be able to accept entries on the day. We will run the same finishing system of handing out finishing tokens as we do for the handicap races.

As it is a championship race you MUST wear club kit – there can be no exceptions for this so if you don’t have your club vest/t shirt already it is YOUR responsibility to collect if from Deena prior to the day – no club kit = no race.

We do not have exclusive use of the park for this event so whilst there will be a lead bike to warn other park users there are runners coming please be polite and courteous to other users and give them plenty of vocal warning if you are coming up behind them!  No headphones (including bone conducting headphones) will be allowed at all - anyone wearing headphones will be disqualified and will not receive a finish time.

This is a measured and timed event so results are eligible for PB smileys (and club records!) if you put in the effort!

Whilst we appreciate that many members choose to take part in parkrun events on a Saturday morning we have struggled to find a suitable local 5km event that we can use for our final championship 5km event of the season so as a committee we feel that this is the best available option to the club to allow as many people as possible to take part. Championship races are not compulsory so members are free to join in as they wish or choose to opt out if they prefer. There is a small charge for parking at Dinton Pastures so we encourage you all to car share where possible

See this link for information on the Santa Dash and Mini Dash races which will take place after our exclusive event – bring the family to cheer you on the championship event and then enter and run together after in the main event!
